Weddings

Planning a wedding?  Congratulations!  We would love to talk to you about getting married in Holy Trinity church. To discuss what arrangements are possible, or to make an appointment to meet the Rector, please contact Vicki in our Benefice Church Office on 01453 889004 (9am–1pm, Tuesday to Friday), or at admin@minchchurch.org.uk .

If you would like to know more about being married in a church you will find a lot of information on the Church of England website. The guidance below relates specifically to Holy Trinity, Minchinhampton.

Wedding Banns

Wedding banns are an announcement in church of your intention to get married. Your banns will usually be read out on the first three Sundays of the month, around two months before your wedding day. As well as being a legal requirement, your banns readings are special public occasions when people in church hear about your upcoming wedding and remember you in prayer. It’s an exciting and happy time, so you’re welcome to invite your family and friends to hear your banns too.

You will also need to arrange to have them called in the parish or parishes in which you live. The parish priest in that parish will provide you with a Certificate of Banns that you will need send to the Benefice Church Office prior to the wedding.

The Benefice Church Office can provide you with a breakdown of the full costs involved in planning a wedding here at Holy Trinity.

Flowers for your wedding

We ask that you contact our flower arrangers to discuss your flowers in church. The Flower Guild will be able to arrange flowers for your wedding or Service of Blessing. If you would like more information about what our Flower Guild can offer for your special day, the Benefice Church Office can provide you with information and give you the contact details for the Flower Guild coordinator in order to discuss colour, types of flower, foliage and placement.

Music at your wedding

Music is a vital and integral part of your wedding service and needs careful consideration. We will usually invite you to a wedding preparation day, and as part of that  you will have the opportunity to hear our Director of Music play many of the pieces of music you might want in your service.

Baptism (Christening) or Thanksgiving for children

If you’re thinking about a wedding at Holy Trinity and you already have children with your partner or from a previous relationship, you might like to consider a service that allows you to give God thanks for your children or have them baptized (christened) at the same service. Please get in touch with the Benefice Church Office if you’d like to find out more about this option.
