Week beginning Sunday 24 November

Details of services are in the Worship section of this website (click here).
Prayer intentions from Anglican, diocesan, deanery and parish prayer cycles are also on the same worship pages.
For the calendar, listing everything happening each day, see the website Calendar (click here).
Other notices are shown below.

ADVENT, CHRISTMAS, EPIPHANY – The coming season is not just Christmas but is the flow of three very different and special periods within the church year. On the stands in the parish church library (front left of the nave) are some books that can take us through these weeks. Please feel free to borrow them. Other sources are Church House Bookshop (click here for website) and Wild Goose publications, related to the Iona Community, who offer a wide range of low-cost books and resources, both paper and electronic (click here for website).

Donations are welcome for MARAH and the FOOD BANK. There is a collection point at the back of church. As Christmas approaches, we are asking on behalf of Marah for large boxes of biscuits and/or chocolates such as Heroes or Celebrations. These are often on special offer in the lead up to Christmas . We put these out as a treat for our guests. If this is something you would like to buy for Marah, please let Jackie Natt know (01453 731018) or put them in the Marah box.

CHRISTMAS CAKES FOR MARAH – Would anyone like to make a Christmas cake for our Marah Christmas celebrations? It needs to be a fruit cake with a marzipan and icing covering. It doesn’t need to be decorated. Any size or shape … but no alcohol please (use orange juice). I will need the cakes for Sunday 15 December (or collected by arrangement). Please let me know if this is something you could do. Jackie Natt (01453 731018).

WEEKDAY EUCHARISTS – We have introduced extra weekday Eucharists that we hope will prove helpful. These are held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7.00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday mornings at 8.30 a.m., all in the Lady Chapel.

INTERCESSIONS ROTA – If you would like to volunteer to lead the intercessions at the 10.00am service on a Sunday, please pop your name on the noticeboard at the back of the church where rotas are usually displayed. If you have any questions or have not done this before, please speak with Juduth Cleever who will be happy to talk through what is entailed.

STROUD WOMEN'S REFUGE would be grateful for the following items: note pads and pens, adult puzzle books, children’s craft items, sanitary products, individual tree decorations, wrapping paper and sticky tape. There will be a labelled box in the Porch Room for donations. Alternatively, you can drop them off to me – call 01453 873785. They will be delivered on 17 December. June Sidwell.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT BOARDS – Those who contributed to the organ restoration fund as grant provider, sponsor or individual donor are to be displayed on the organ casing. To check if your name is already on the list, please see the noticeboard at the entrance to the church. Please notify the Church Administrator by 21 December if you think your name should have been included on the lists displayed.
