Organ restoration project, update April 2023

Since our last update this project has made a great deal of progress.
In early November 2022 we signed the contract with our organ builders Messrs Goetze and Gwynn for the work to start this summer and to be completed in the Autumn of 2024. As a result of inflation, the overall estimated cost of the restoration scheme has risen to £232,000 but we are well on track to raising the necessary funds thanks to the generosity of grant providers, sponsors and donors who have enabled us to raise a magnificent £190,421.90 by the end of March.

Our funds have come from the following:
£53,454 from existing 6Ps and organ funds
£24,484 from the sponsor a pipe scheme
£2,000 from Renishaw Charity Committee
£1,000 from the Prince of Wales Charitable Trust
£3,750 from the Benefact Trust
£5,750 from the Julia and Hans Rausing Trust
£10,000 from the Riccardo Crawley Trust
£33,942 in donations
£3,596 from fund raising events (including the T-time concerts run by
Dr Warwick Cole)

Pledges have been received from the following:
£5,000 from the David Thomas Trust
£5,000 from the Laslett Hinton Charity
£500 from the Langtree Trust
£3,000 from the Cecil Adams Organ Fund
£4,000 from Church Care/The Pilgrim Trust
£5,000 from Gloucestershire Historic Churches Trust
£1,500 from the Warneford Ecclesiastical Charity
£22,014 from David and Alison Wood to match the funds existing in the organ fund as at 30 September 2021

Gift aid is being claimed on eligible donations – estimated to be £6,400 on donations received since 1 January 2022. 'Minchinhampton with Box PCC' is registered with the Charity Commission as charity number 1163940

The organ is expected to be removed in September and taken to the Nottinghamshire workshop of the organ builders.  By this time we hope to have raised the remaining roughly £42,000 from further grants and pledges and through a variety of fund-raising events to be held over the next few months. These will include a second Music in the Garden event to be held on Friday 14 July. Please look out for details of events in the Parish Magazine, Minchinhampton Life and various Facebook pages. Donations or sponsorship can be made at any time – click here for a link to the sponsorship form.

With grateful thanks to all of those who have donated so generously to this important project. When completed we will have a very special organ around which we can build a centre of excellence for music in our church.
