Box W.I. - April 2018
At our February meeting we had a fascinating talk by Eileen Hopcraft on Dolls Houses. She brought along a display of dolls houses made by herself aided by her husband, based on various themes. She explained the problem was keeping all the items in the houses in proportion, which in-volved ingenuity and imagination in the construction and lots of patience!
We raised an amazing £80 for the Denman College appeal, from the sale of cakes in the Village Hall. It was held in conjunction with the usual Friday Coffee Morning and we would like to thank them for allowing us to share the event and for buying our cakes! It would have been a non-event without them, as very few extra people turned out to buy, despite the advertising!
Our next meeting is on Tuesday 10th April and we are holding a talk by Jan Ryder on the work of Longfield, which supports people with life limiting ill-nesses, their families and carers.
I had a senior moment last month as the event for March should have been advertised as talk by Di Wall on Stroud in WW2. Di, please accept my apologies!
Meetings at Box Village Hall are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, 10am business, coffee at 10.30am followed by a speaker. Visitors are warmly welcomed at 10.30am - £3 including coffee.
