We pay tribute to Peter Hurford who died last Sunday; a great organist (especially noted for his Bach performances and recordings), scholar, teacher, founder of the St Albans International Organ Festival and composer of a small number of exquisitely crafted works. His best-known anthem is the Litany to the Holy Spirit that we will sing as a communion motet, since the Gospel for the day starts 'Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit ... was led by the Spirit in the wilderness’. The service will be preceded by his little prelude on a Passiontide hymn tune Caswall.
