Visit of Bishop James and Veronica Almasi from the Diocese of Masasi

We were blessed with a four day visit to Minchinhampton by +James and Veronica as part of their stay in the UK from 10th April until 1st May.

During their time with us +James preached at Box and Holy Trinity at Sunday services on 26th April, followed by a Bring and Share lunch in the Porch Room with over 40 people present.

After lunch, +James was given 60 clerical collars for his priests, cash to buy some live stock for him and Veronica as well as being told that £1410 would be sent out to Masasi to support the diocese. The £1410 was made up of £360 from a retiring collection, £50 donation from Wednesday Cuppa, and £1000 from previous fundraising events.

A talk led by Veronica to the MU group on Tuesday ended with an exchange of gifts. Minchinhampton MU received a tablecloth, made by Veronica, imprinted with the MU logo, and Minchinhampton MU gave her an MU badge and £50.

The Bishop and his wife have now safely returned to Tanzania and have written to express their thanks for the warm welcome they received here in Minchinhampton and the generosity of the congregation.

The Masasi Groups next fundraising event is a mini fayre on Saturday the 1st August in the Church grounds. There will be stalls and cream teas available from 2pm until 5pm. Please put the date in your diary.
