Minchinhampton W.I. - September 2017
Our July meeting was well attended with only a few apologies mainly due to illness. The meeting began with the Secretary reading out the record of the last meeting which was seconded and subsequently signed by the President. With reference to the last meeting there were a number of matters arising: the Box Pudding Tasting Evening, July 14th was cancelled, Gloucester talk on Richard III was also cancelled.
In addition, Carol displayed the painting she had made for the Wall Hanging Competition. Should our entry be successful, we will need a number of members to be involved in the embroidery of the finished piece of work which will be on hessian. A list was passed around for members to confirm that they will be able to attend the Summer Lunch on August 3rd, cost £5.
The President read out a comprehensive list of correspondence from GFWI: Denman Brochure 2017 - 18 now available; Special Denman Federation Weekend, 6 -8th April 2018 [cheaper courses], other activities she mentioned included, creative paper cutting, clay pigeon or air rifle shooting, crafts for Christmas, and Gloucester WI Racing Club membership applications 2017- 18, £7. Other activities for our members this month include the Skittles lunch, Scrabble, Craft Group and Woodchester WI have asked for help with their walk [August]. In addition, at the end of the meeting members were given the opportunity to see the Report of the Annual Meeting and other National papers that were available.
The highlight of the meeting was a very amusing and informative account of the work that he does locally as a Chiropodist and Podiatrist by Geoff Boldero. The President gave the vote of thanks. There will be no August meeting as members will be attending the very popular Summer Lunch on August 3rd in the Porch Room at the parish church.
