Minchinhampton W.I. - July 2017

The President began the meeting by giving everybody a warm welcome including our visitor, Susan.

The meeting was very well attended and it was good to see so many familiar faces again, although there were a few absences due to illness and holidays.

The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary and were signed by the President as a true record. There were no matters arising. As usual there was a long list of activities that had been sent by GFWI and this gave members the opportunity to decide which ones they would like to be involved in doing. Some examples included a talk on Richard 111 scheduled for September in Churchdown Village Hall, Crochet for Beginners at WI House and Bowls at Olveston Bowling Club in August. Members were also invited to visit Sudeley Castle, a trip organised by this WI for July.

In July there will also be the next round of the area quiz which we won in March. In August there will not be the usual meeting instead members were requested to sign up for our very popular Summer Lunch which is held in the Porch Room of the parish church. In addition members also signed the list for the different kinds of food that will be needed to make this such a great success. Unfortunately, we had no guest speaker this month as due to unforeseen circumstances the Fashion Show had to be cancelled. Instead of this members took part in a quiz organised by the President and a game of Bingo, and everybody agreed that this was great fun.

The next meeting at Minchinhampton Library is scheduled for July 5th at 2pm - the guest speaker will be Mr Geoff Boldero and he will talk on “Life of a Chiropodist and Podiatrist”.
