Traidcraft - July 2017
This year, Traidcraft’s summer appeal is about learning new skills.
Asina is a single mother living in Bangladesh. Her husband died leaving her alone at the age of 26 with 3 small children to look after. She worked hard to make ends meet, picking crops from her neighbours’ fields and looking after cows and goats.
Asina has few resources but she has a small patch of dry scrubland outside of her home. It is unsuitable for growing most crops but Asina heard that it could be good for growing tea ...a relatively new crop where she lives. That is where Traidcraft Exchange stepped in.
They provided Asina with training and tools so that she could learn new skills about how to grow and market tea on the infertile land. Asina is smart and ambitious and determined to learn all she can so she can be self-sufficient and send her children to school.
These life changing skills help people like Asina to grow and earn more so they can have a future no longer in poverty.
Thanks to people like you who support Traidcraft, people’s lives are changing all over the world.
We hold a Traidcraft stall on the 4th Sunday of each month in the porch room after the 10am service. We also sell cards EVERY week ....a great idea if you are suddenly in need of a birthday or occasional card or just a blank notecard.
