Minchinhampton W.I. - March 2017 Meeting
It was very encouraging to see such a good attendance at our afternoon meeting on March 1st and they were definitely not disappointed, it was a lot of fun. After being welcomed by the President the minutes from the last meeting were read and approved.
A number of interesting activities are being planned and these were outlined to members as the meeting got under away; a visit to Bradford on Avon and the Peto Gardens to be organised by Rover in September, together with a visit to Sudeley Castle in June. The first round of the County Quiz will take place on March 29th at Woodchester; we will be entering two teams. In addition, arrangements were made for the usual activities - the skittles lunch, craft, and scrabble. The craft group will be taking 30 twiddle muffs that they have made to Horsfall House on Friday.
Our guest speaker this month was Mrs Nagako Cooper whose talk was on Gentle Exercise and Massage with a lot of audience participation. It was a fun filled activity with some of the exercises being done sitting down in pairs, while the rest took place standing up accompanied by great gales of laughter. The aim of these exercises is to help participants to unwind and relax. Mrs Cooper's warm, friendly personality made it an afternoon to remember. Anne Jackson gave the vote of thanks.
The next meeting is on Wednesday 4th April at 3pm in the Library. The speaker will be Diana Wall on the role of women in World War 1 .
