Minchinhampton W.I. - February Meeting 2017
The meeting was very well attended and members were welcomed by the President. The minutes of the last meeting were read out and they were approved and signed. There were two matters arising. The results of the GWFI Resolution Results were read out, and the most votes was gained by alleviating loneliness Members were encouraged to subscribe to the GWFI magazine. This was followed by a list of correspondence from GFWI.
There were a number of other notices. Members were given the opportunity to decide on a variety of destinations for a coach trip in the summer run by Rover or to organise a coach trip themselves to Sudeley Castle. The latter proved to be the most popular option. Members were encouraged to take part in the monthly competition. Details were also given about the County Quiz together with venues for Scrabble, Craft and the Skittles lunch.
The President then welcomed the guest speaker, Mrs Pam Slater, her talk was on: The Story and History behind your cup of tea. Her very interesting and informative talk was subdivided up into three sections: history of tea, the location of the plantations and the variety of plants that were grown. The talk was very entertaining and the speaker made a lot of reference to a recent visit she had made to India. The talk was very much enjoyed by members and the vote of thanks was given by the President. The meeting ended with a very welcome cup of tea and biscuits.
